The cast of this year's fall play knew they were in
for a challenge when they signed up to audition for
Shakespeare's most personal work, Hamlet. The
old high school auditorium wasn't going to serve
the play well, so the cast went on the road to the
new Islington Community Center. The sanctuary
of the old church was the perfect setting for this
production o{ Hamlet. The intimate house drew
ce in as they watched Hamlet
hd ponder, and ponder again
of that which would motivate
avenge the murder of his father,
'se set, simple costumes and mini-
ighting supported the production,
it was the language and the acting
that carried the night. The tragic story
was played with an honesty that moved
audiences. The three night run in
December ended far too quickly for
those who worked on the production.

In a winter that we all thought
would never end, the cast, crew
and orchestra of The Pajama Gann
finally opened at the new theater
at W'estwood High School with an
explosion of color, fun, and energy.
VChile audiences came in bubbling
with excitement over the new space,
they left ■with even more excitement
about the show. Audiences were
thrilled as the company danced,
sang, and played the first notes ever
to be heard in the new theater. VC'ith
brilliant sets, beautiful costumes,
amazing lighting, fun songs, and a
storA'line almost too silly even for
the American Musical, The Pajama
Game delivered what we all needed:
a night of good fun in our new
school. 0\'er 100 students worked
on the show that started rehearsing
in the old auditorium, but finished
with spectacular performances in
the new theater. ^X'hat a treat for
outgoing seniors who, despite not
getting as much time as they mighr
have wanted in the new schof)l,
u-ill always have the memor\- of
premiering our ne^\' space.

OVER FEBRUARY VACATION, 21 students trav-
eled to beautifLil Costa Rica. Mr. Doyle and Ms.
Rosengarten, veteran teacher-chaperones, led the
way as the group witnessed some of the most amaz-
ing natural sights in the world. The adventure was
highlighted by a visit to natural hot springs, a zip-
line canopy tour over a cloud forest, and a horseback
riding day trip. The excursion provided students

with the opportunity to
apply their well-honed
Spanish speaking skills
in real-life situations.
